Legal

Amid increasing pressure on journalism in India—through false cases, repressive processes, and the misuse of administrative authority—the Editors’ Club of India has resolved to provide the nation’s editors with an unbreakable, impregnable, and immediately deployable legal shield. To this end, a Legal Wing has been established, comprising retired judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts, senior advocates, and eminent experts in media law, criminal law, and constitutional rights.

This wing is not limited to providing legal advice alone—it is a national mechanism committed to standing in court for the protection of editors and ensuring access to justice. The Legal Wing makes its position unequivocally clear: "An attack on an editor is an attack on the rule of law. And an attack on the rule of law will not be tolerated at any cost."

This wing will operate by treating the protection of every member editor as a matter of right, duty, and national responsibility. In the event of any FIR, notice, investigation, summons, cease-and-desist order, or arbitrary administrative action, the Legal Wing will be activated immediately and will take all necessary steps.
